GRAT is about presence. About seeing what’s there—before smoothing it out. The pieces are raw, often asymmetrical, and shaped directly from stone. No molds. No polish. They carry the weight of what they came from, and of what they became along the way. Each ring is a physical thought. A choice to let the imperfect speak. GRAT isn’t trend-oriented or season-bound. It’s a practice in reduction. What doesn’t need to be there—goes. What stays, holds meaning.
CRAFTSMANSHIP Every piece is carved by hand. The process is slow, intuitive, and responsive to the material. There’s no plan beyond attention—no replica, no ideal. Edges form through decisions. Cracks sometimes stay. A good piece is one that feels like it couldn’t have turned out any other way.
MADE TO ORDER To avoid waste and overproduction, each GRAT ring is made to order. If you want a custom-fit piece, you can request one through the Order form.
MATERIAL grat works primarily with natural stones—like alabaster from Spain and serpentine from Zimbabwe—as well as other carefully sourced materials.Alabaster is soft and translucent, often revealing veins when held to light. Serpentine is denser, darker, and carries the history of tectonic shifts and ancient pressure. The making process is designed to waste as little material as possible. Cuts are considered, offcuts reused where they can be. Working this way respects the time and rarity inside each piece of stone—and avoids unnecessary extraction.
